How To Overcome Fear Of Failure

FAILURE

The majority of us fear this word, we are terrified to fail and are trying to avoid failure in any ways possible.

Of course, it’s understandable why humans do that and why no one wants to fail, however, if we do not make a conscious choice and decide to take control back into our life, then we’ll forever remain living in your comfort zone as slaves to of fear of failing. And we all know – nothing grows in your comfort zone.

So before understanding how to overcome fear of failure, first- let’s look and the fear and specifically define what “fear of failure” even is?

If you truly want to grow in your life (which I assume you do because you are reading this article), raise your vibration and create your own reality – then you absolutely have to confront your comfort zone, your limiting beliefs and fears that are actually lowering energetical vibration of your body and are keeping you stuck in your “current reality”.
I’ve put that in quotes because there’s no “one current reality”.

Your reality is how you see things in your life, experience mixed with your unique perception of yourself and the world.

Meaning, “fear of failure” might be perceived as something “scary and absolutely no way of overcoming” vs. somebody who’s scared, but is ready to confront this fear sees this rather as an “opportunity and their “gateway” to self-improvement and creating their dream life”.

Define Meaning Of Failure

How do you define failure?
If you google word “Failure” then it says “lack of success”, but what does then success mean?

Obviously success for you and success for me will be 2 different things.

For somebody success will be making $1 mil dollars in a year, maybe in a month, for some success is having a healthy body, signing their first client, standing up and speaking in front of the audience – seriously as many people there is as many types of success and simultaneously “failures” there will be.
So based on the definition of “failure” from Google – failure is not meeting/hitting your goal aka “lack of success.

Once we’re clear that success and failure are very different for each of us – let’s think why we’re so afraid to fail?

The thing is that you, I, we – humans. We associate something with “failure” and usually that “something” is nothing positive. For most of us, it will go along the lines of:

FAILURE = rejection, not worthy, I will be laughed at, look stupid, inefficient, weird or WRONG.

Obviously there are many more names that our monkey mind could put us down.

But is this really the truth?

Is it really that when you don’t meet your goals, when you don’t meet your own (or somebody’s else’s) expectations it means that you failed?

Well, again depends on what you set as your goal..
If you set a goal to make $1 million dollars in your first year of business and only made $678’000 then technically, yes it is sort of “failure”.

HOWEVER!

And it’s BIG BIG HOWEVER here🙂

“Failing by not meeting your set goals does not mean that you are unworthy, it does not mean you are stupid or that you will be rejected and laughed at.”

When you think about this…it’s not the “failure” that we’re actually afraid of – but rather it’s the reaction of other people towards our action and how they might treat us afterwards is what scares us.
Isn’t it crazy that the majority of what we do (or don’t do) usually comes down to what other people think of us. I’ve given up worrying about other people opinion’s many years ago and have a blog about it for you here.

Let’s continue with defining “failure”..
Now we understand that we “fail” depending on what we set as our goal – why not to set our goals in such a way that we achieve them in any way?

I always say – set the rules so that you can win.
And by “rules” I mean rules of the game of YOUR life.

You Fail Only If You Choose To Fail

Again, as mentioned depending on what were your expectations and if you have or haven’t met those – you’ll think that you are a failure or you’re not.

Remember – your expectations that you have to be a certain way or that you have to achieve something specific is just that – YOUR expectations and that’s it!

No one knows what you decided to yourself & what you really wanted to create.
If in your mind you decided that you’re going to make $1’000’000 in your first year of business,  and you didn’t…guess what – most people won’t even know.

Don’t be so hard on yourself for not reaching your goals 100% from first shot – you are human, you’re allowed to learn & make mistakes.

And if you did announce that your goal was $1 million and then by the end of the year – you didn’t achieve it…so what?!
Do you really think people will reject you or laugh at you for that?

Of course not!

In fact, it’s very probable that they will actually applaud you for setting such high goals for yourself. Even if it was $100 in your business goal – it’s still amazing!
Most people don’t set any goals for themselves, most people don’t start a business, so you’re waaay ahead of them.

But remember we want to stop worrying and giving power to the opinions of other people in general – positive or not so positive, who cares – your job is to focus on yourself and bring your goals to life.
But if comparing yourself with other people makes you feel better for now – use it!
It’s definitely not the healthiest ways to boot your self-esteem (your ego likes this one), but it’s definitely better than feeling like crap about yourself.

How To Overcome Fear Of Failure

Really, you don’t have to figure out how to “overcome” fear of failure.
Those who understand the points below, know that it’s pointless to even worry about what other people think.

First, people don’t really care about your expectation of you (because everyone is so worried about how THEY look, and you’re an example of this too), that people don’t really have time to worry about your problems.

That being said, even if you announced your goals, even if everybody knew those goals and you failed to achieve those – WHAT HAPPENS THEN?!

NOTHING!

Exactly freaking nothing, except you now got tons of experience.
You now know how to build a business, you now know which systems and processes you need to improve to build a business to generate that $1 mil dollars, so was this really a failure?

Want to finally feel worthy and at peace with yourself?

Bring out your true identity!

In my opinion: “HECK NO”!
The experiences and “failure” you got – were the perfect lessons YOU HAD to go through in order to learn this knowledge that you will use further in your life.
Here I’m talking not just the business, but life in general.

Second, remember what I said at the beginning of the post – it’s all matter of your perception.

So instead of focusing on the outcome – put your goals as the learning process.

My goal is to learn what mistakes to make and not to make to build a million-dollar business (it might be my first business, it might be my 10th business).
My goal is to find the courage to speak up in front of the people.
My goal is to show compassion to myself my often and so on.

In this way, with such “rules of the game” it’s impossible for you to fail – you will always be a winner because you always gain something even from a “negative” experience because it’s all matter of YOUR unique perception of it.

So instead of beating yourself up for your “mistakes” – choose to acknowledge your blind spots.
Notice where you’ll improve next time and move on to your next activity with joy and gratitude for this experience no matter what other people might say.

Truly conscious people will never judge or put you down and who cares what people with limited minds think anyway.

Remember that the biggest “failure” is not to grow, to stay dormant in your comfort zone and not even taking a shot at this thing called LIFE.

What’s the “failure” you’ve been avoiding?
What are the lessons you could learn from it?
