How To Stop Reacting & Start Acting

As I’m creating this blog (June 2020) the world is overtaken by huge protests, fighting for equal rights for humans, and stopping systematic racism. All of this kicked off after the murder of George Floyd.

Seeing so much pain, resentment, and anger that is going on in the world right now is what prompted me to discuss the topic of how to stop reacting and move into action.
Hence this is the scenario I am referring to in the video, however, this process can be applied to any other situation when you fall into pain, overreact emotionally, or experience lower vibration emotions.

While it’s incredibly important to allow ourselves to feel the anger, express our resentment so that we can let it go – there has to be the time when we process and move into solution vs. continuing to react and delve in the past. All that it’s going to do is just create more anger, cut our wounds even deeper and we will be stuck in this pattern of fighting and not actually moving into the solution.

HERE ARE 3 SIMPLE STEPS TO STOP OVERREACTING:

#1 Acceptance

Now, I know, when you’re in pain it’s quite challenging to accept the “problem” especially when you’re fighting for injustice, but as mentioned before we have to understand that by emotionally overreacting we’re not able to fully focus and make rational decisions.

As uncomfortable as it might feel, at the beginning, we have to accept that whatever have happened in the past is done and we cannot change that.

All we can do now is change our present in order for this pain not to occur in the future.
Acceptance and understanding that this can’t continue any longer is what going to move you into taking action toward a solution.

Often people think that by accepting the issue –
it would mean that you’re okay with it.
No, accepting is making peace with it –
it doesn’t mean that what happened was right.

#2 Transform

When we accept our pain and situation we’re able to step away from it. Instead of being fully emerged in it, we now can observe it “from the side” and start making conscious decisions.

REMEMBER: It’s not about blaming, shaming, or pointing the finger –  we’re going away from reacting and are not trying to prove who was right – at this step we’re transforming our energy and letting go of the last emotional charge we have had about the “issue”.

To transform the pain, ask yourself:

  1. What can I learn from this?
  2. How can I move forward from here?

Once you start observing different perspectives of the situation and what it has taught you
(in this scenario we are being taught how important it is to respect, value each other and that we’re actually not that different. This shows how powerful humanity can be when we come together).

And when we see this, the emotional charge that we had is getting smaller and smaller – we’re opening up to receive possible solutions and next action steps.

#3 Spread

Once you have transformed this within yourself – this is when you consciously spread this energy and share it with other people.

When we are reacting we are spreading our energy too, but unconsciously.

Now we’re taking responsibility for what is that we’re creating.

Even by being in your energy of acceptance and having internal peace with it – you’re transforming other people because all we are is just energy.

This is the moment you can have conversations with other people and create new healthy boundaries, or express how you truly felt inside without being emotionally attached to the situation and causing more pain between each other.

Apply In Real Life

Think about, where was the last time you overreacted?
Can you accept and transform the emotional charge you had about that situation?
